Author Amber Dykstra

Amber Dykstra is many things, as we all are, but the one thing that has been consistent since the 3rd grade was that she is a writer. She is an aspiring novelist, and her favorite genre to write and read about is fantasy.

Education

She graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a Bachelors in English with minors in World Literature, Creative Writing, and Interdisciplinary Studies. She was published in the school’s literary journal The Mangrove Review and received an award for her fiction piece, “The Happiest Place on Earth.”

Experience

She also holds a Florida Teaching License to teach English 6–12, ESE K-12, and Media Center Specialist with her favorite group of students being those who are below grade level and getting them back on track. She has been teaching for 10 years, frequently hopping from whatever subject and grade where she is most needed. Her favorite subject is, of course, writing. She also holds endorsements in Reading and ESOL. She also has completed Florida State University’s Bridge Program to become a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant. 

Personal

She is a mother whose kids keep her busy with all kinds of shenanigans. Her interests bounce from furniture restoring and sewing to video games and travel. Her favorite travel location is Kyoto, Japan and one day hopes to be retired in Japan eating sushi, takoyaki, and crepes everyday.
